2008 LUBBOCK CHALLENGER PARTICIPANTS

Jamie Baker (#309):  Australian Open Qualifier first round loss to Ivo Karlovic (#20 seed); Wimbledon first round loss to Stephano Galvani.  Great Britian Davis Cup Participant.

Alex Bogomolov Jr. (#313):  French Open Qualifying first round loss; Wimbledon Qualifying second round loss.  Alex is returning to Lubbock for the fourth straight year with his best performance in 2007, reaching the semifinals. 

Lester Cook (#319):  Lester will be making his third visit to Lubbock having competed in 2004 and 2007. 

Frank Dancevic (#146):  Australian Open first round loss to Jarko Nieminen (#24 seed); French Open first round loss to Miguel-Angel Lopez Jaen; Wimbledon first round win over David Nalbandian (#7 seed) and second round loss to Bobby Reynolds; US Open first round loss to Nicolas Almagro (#18 seed).  One singles Challenger title in 2008. 

John Isner (#125):  Australian Open first round loss to Fabrise Santoro; French Open first round loss to Juan Ignacio Chela.  French Open Doubles with Sam Querrey first round win over Starace/Volandri, second round win over Kas/Wassen (#15 seed), and third round loss to Bryan/Bryan (#1 seed).  Wimbledon first round loss to Ernests Gulbis.  US Open first round loss to Andreas Beck.  John's only visit to Lubbock was in 2005, qualifying into the main draw and advancing to the second round 

Tobias Kamke (#189):  Australian Open Qualifying first round loss; French Open Qualifying second round loss; Wimbledon Qualifier first round loss to Andreas Seppi (#29 seed); US Open Qualifying third round loss.

Kevin Kim (#144):  Australian Open Qualifying third round loss; French Open Qualifying first round loss; Wimbledon Qualifier first round loss to Robin Soderling; US Open Qualifying third round loss.  One singles Challenger titile in 2008.

Ivo Klec (#330):  Australian Open Qualifying second round loss; French Open Qualifying second round loss; Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open Qualifying first round loss.

Giovanni Lapentti (#251):  US Open Qualifying third round loss.  One singles Challenger title in 2008.

Nicholas Monroe (#286):  Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open Qualifying first round loss.  This is Nick's first main draw singles appreance in Lubbock after participating in Qualifying in 2005 and 2006. 

Peter Polansky (#267):  Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open Qualifying second round loss.  Canadian Davis Cup Participant.  Peter will returning to Lubbock for the second straight year.    

Rajeev Ram (#178): Australian Open Qualifier first round loss to Simone Bolelli.  Australian Open Doubles quarterfinalist.  French Open Doubles with Bobby Reynolds first round win over Colleri/Lapentti, second round win over Melo/Sa (#14 seed), and third round loss to Nestor/Zimonjic (#2 seed); Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open Qualifying first round loss.  Currently ranked #52 in doubles having won two Challenger titles in 2008 with Bobby Reynolds.  One singles Challenger title in 2008 (Winnetka).  Rajeev is returning to Lubbock for the fifth straight year with his best performance in 2007, reaching the quarterfinals. 

Michael Russell (#294): Australian Open first round win over Fabio Fognini and second round loss to James Blake (#12 seed).  After a one year absence, Michael is returning to Lubbock for the third time.

VIncent Spadea (#110):  Australian Open first round win over Radek Stepanek (#30 seed), second round win over Denis Gremelmayr, and third round loss to David Ferrer (#5 seed); French Open first round loss to Julien Benneteau; Wimbledon first round loss to Thomas Johansson; US Open first round loss to Marat Safin.

Ryan Sweeting (#277): Australian Open Qualifying first round loss; Wimbledon Qualifying second round loss; US Open Qualifier first round loss to Roko Karanusic.  Ryan, the 2007 Doubles Champion, will returning to Lubbock for the second straight year. 

Nicolas Todero (#296):  Wimbledon Qualifying third round loss.  Nicolas will be making his fourth apperance in Lubbock, having competed in 2003, 2005, and 2007. 

Dusan Vemic (#193): French Open Qualifying second round loss.  French Open Doubles with Bruno Soares first round win over Haggard/Zverev, second round win over Mergea/Tecau, third round win over Erlich/Ram (#3 seed), quarterfinal win over Bjorkman/Ullyett (#8 seed), and semifinal loss to Cuevas/Horna.  Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss.  US Open Qualifying first round loss.  Currently ranked #53 in doubles having won three Challenger titles in 2008.  Dusan will be making his third apperance in Lubbock, having reached the finals last year.   

Todd Widom (#269):  Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open Qualifying second round loss.  Todd is returning to Lubbock for after a three year absence. 

Jesse Witten (#247):  French Open Qualifying first round loss; Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open Qualifying first round loss.  Jesse is returning to Lubbock for the fourth straight year with his best performance in 2007, reaching the second round.

Kevin Anderson (#104): Australian Open Qualifier first round loss to Alejandro Falla; Las Vegas ATP finalist loss to Sam Querrey; French Open Qualifying second round loss.  Wimbledon first round loss to Agustin Calleri.  Wimbledon Doubles fourth round loss.

Brian Dabul (#115): French Open Qualifying first round loss; Wimbledon first round loss to Feliciano Lopez (#31 seed).  One singles Challenger title in 2008.  Currently ranked #99 in doubles having won one Challenger title in 2008. 

Ryler De Heart (#261): US Open Qualifier first round win over Olivier Rochus and second round loss to Rafael Nadal (#1 seed). 

Rik De Voest (#148): Australian Open Qualifying second round loss; French Open Qualifying third round loss; Wimbledon Qualifying third round loss.  US Open Qualifier first round loss to Rui Machado.  Currently ranked #44 in doubles having won five Challenger titles in 2008. 

Farrukh Dustov (#404): Australian Open Qualifying first round loss; UZB Davis Cup Participant.

Adam Feeney (#388): Australian Open Qualifying second round loss.  Australian Open Doubles quarterfinalist.  Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss.  US Open Qualifying first round loss. 

Nathan Healey (#486): Australian Open Qualifying second round loss.

Robert Kendrick (#113): Australian Open first round loss to Amer Delic; Wimbledon Qualifying third round loss; US Open Qualifier first round win over Nicolas Mahut and second round loss to Novak Djokovic (#3 seed).  Currently ranked #94 in doubles.

Bruno Soares (#798):  French Open Doubles with Dusan Vemic first round win over Haggard/Zverev, second round win over Mergea/Tecau, third round win over Erlich/Ram (#3 seed), quarterfinal win over Bjorkman/Ullyett (#8 seed), and semifinal loss to Cuevas/Horna.  Currently ranked #37 in doubles having won two Challenger titles and one ATP title in 2008. 

Sam Warburg (#169): Australian Open Qualifier first round win over Juan Pablo Brzezicki and second round loss to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga; Wimbledon Qualifying first round loss; US Open first round win over Janko Tipsarevic and second round loss to Nicolas Almagro.
