Positions Needed
Ball People: This position is open to anyone over the age of 10—not just kids but adults as well! The tournament requires ball people for approximately 80 matches over a 9-day period. Ball people are needed daily beginning with qualifying on Saturday, September 20 through the finals on Sunday, September 28. There will be a Ball Person Training prior to the tournament. All ball people will receive an official Pro Circuit shirt. Show your team spirit by offering the services of your ENTIRE high school, junior high school, and/or league team for at least one day in place of your normal practice/match. Your team will be the sole volunteers during your specified times and will be recognized at the tournament for its involvement. We will gladly come to your school and provide training at your convenience if your team agrees to volunteer. Dates and times are on a first come, first serve basis, so don’t delay.
Meal Donations: Meals are needed at least twice daily for officials and players. These must be delivered to the site and can be homemade or purchased. Officials and players are open to eating anything! Meal suggestions might include: a sandwich or main course item, salad/chips/fruit, and dessert item. Any necessary utensils must also be provided. You are not required to provide drinks, but they are always appreciated.
Housing: We are looking for people who can host main draw singles and doubles players throughout the tournament. Lubbock tennis enthusiasts have generously donated their homes in the past and players look forward to our West Texas hospitality! It can be a great cultural experience to host a professional athlete. These athletes spend most of each year in event hotels, and it is a great break for them to be able to stay in a family home. Often bonds are created and the families stay connected to the athlete(s) for years to follow.
Transportation: This position requires individuals 25 years and older, with a driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Drivers will be using a tournament vehicle (you may use your personal vehicle if you choose) to transport players and officials between the McLeod Tennis Center and the hotels/airport.
Concierge: This position entails providing player check-in, practice court bookings and ball distribution, coordination of transportation requests, dissemination of local information (restaurants, points of interest, etc.) and other miscellaneous administrative duties.
Ticket Booth: This position opens one hour prior to each session for ticketing and event passes.
